Holiday Inn Express San Diego Downtown, an IHG Hotel

We had a good stay. We checked in late in the evening (around midnight) and had no issues. Room was clean and there wad a good selection for breakfast everyday. There is no hottub which was a small disappointment but did not ruin our stay. Kids enjoyed the pool. There is coffee available 24/7 along with a water bottle refill station. Staff were all friendly to us and respectful, easy to get clean sheets and towels as needed. Could walk most places as needed.

I am an IHG employee from out of town, so I know the company standards. This hotel went above & beyond. Mike checked us in and was very accommodating on an extremely busy day. Arielle was at the front desk the next morning and was very helpful and friendly. The room was nice and clean and the breakfast was great too! I am very impressed and had a great stay. Thank you to all the staff.

Well the location where it is I should tell you it's a lot of hills the room was very clean. A lot of towels in the room and stuff. The only problem I had was the parking garage is very tight and they didn't explain to us how the key card work for the elevator. We kept going to the parking garage instead of going to the floors that have the rooms until someone came in the elevator and they explained to us how the key card works The continental breakfast was top notch

Staff were super helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was decent. Only downside was the lack of options for the TV to receive Chromecast like some other hotels offer but that's a minor gripe. Parking is very tight like people say in the reviews, narrow garage for smaller vehicles. Trucks and vans will struggle with hard corners.

The front desk staff, Mike and Owen, were incredibly kind and helpful. They graciously changed our room after we experienced a noise issue in the original one. As a visitor to San Diego, I truly felt they represented the city’s warm hospitality! The location is excellent as well—just a 7-minute walk to the museum.

This hotel is a convenient walk or ride to local scene and waterfront. Staff, specially Hope, was very helpful and assisted me. Breakfast is typical for this class of hotel. There is a well stocked coffee station available 24/7 in the lobby. My room, 151 was very clean, comfortable mattress and pillows. I specifically enjoyed the calming lights behind the headboard. Bathroom was clan and they provided anything you need. Overall a quality experience for a Holiday Inn. I would say this location is well managed. A couple of tips: 1) I do not like Uber, specifically if you are from outside of US. The ad extra 1.5% to your ride for handling?! 2) Taxis are hard to find. Look up a local app to avoid using Uber. 3) neighbourhood is generally safe. I hd no problem wondering around and experience the little establishments in the side streets.

Great stay at Holiday Inn Express San Diego Downtown! I stayed from September 28 to October 1, 2025, and had a very pleasant experience. The staff were helpful even before my arrival — they promptly replied to my emails as I was arriving late and also kindly kept a package that was delivered before I checked in. Special thanks to Mike, Hope, and Pablo for their friendly and professional assistance throughout my stay. Breakfast was simple but delicious — with options like turkey sausage, bacon, potatoes, coffee, and apple juice. I loved that it could be enjoyed in the dining area or taken to go. There’s also a convenient water filling station on the ground floor. The room had a slightly old-style design but was very clean, tidy, and odor-free. Wi-Fi worked well, the bed was comfortable, and hot water was excellent. Overall, it was a great and comfortable stay — would definitely return when visiting San Diego again!

Big, spacious room. (A little cold and not easily warmed). Good service. We always love the breakfast and the sausage were tasty (usually just OK). Beautiful view.
